A working reference on how to store lyophilized and reconstituted peptides through the lab workflow while preserving specification.
Store sealed lyophilized vials at −20°C in a light-protected container until first use. Allow vials to equilibrate to room temperature before opening to avoid moisture ingress from condensation. Reconstituted material can be held at 2–8°C for short-term use, or −20°C in single-use aliquots for longer-term storage. Record the reconstitution date on the vial.
Aliquot into single-use volumes based on your typical experimental draw so repeated freeze-thaw cycles remain limited to one aliquot instead of the entire working stock. As a working rule, cap freeze-thaw at three cycles for any given aliquot, and never subject the primary stock to a thaw cycle.
