Reconstitution: solvents, aliquoting, and stability
How to select a reconstitution solvent, dissolve lyophilized material, and prepare working aliquots without compromising integrity.
Solvent selection depends on the compound. Bacteriostatic water is common for many lyophilized peptides; some hydrophobic compounds require an initial dissolution step in DMSO or acetic acid. Always consult the compound-specific documentation on the Certificate of Analysis before opening the vial. Introduce solvent gently along the wall of the vial and rotate rather than shaking. Do not use benzyl-alcohol-preserved diluents where a preservative is contraindicated.
